Therapeutic treatment
During the first visit, the patient presents to the doctor the reason for coming to the clinic. Then, the doctor performs a full oral examination, during which the patient's oral hygiene and gum condition, bite, quality of existing fillings or prostheses are assessed, and the presence of damage to the tooth structure (caries, erosion, wear) is determined. If necessary, an X-ray is taken, a treatment plan is prepared and discussed with the patient.
If the patient's teeth are sensitive or pain is felt, which worsens when eating sweet food and in the presence of thermal stimuli, after the doctor has assessed the condition of the teeth, therapeutic treatment is applied. The most common cause of these symptoms is dental caries, which is one of the most common diseases caused by the acids secreted by bacteria acting on plaque, which promote the demineralization of hard tissues. It is very important to consult a doctor in time and carry out a treatment during which the carious lesions are cleared, thus preventing the further spread of caries. In order to restore the damaged crown of the tooth and the function of the tooth, filling with light-curing composite is applied. If not treated in time, caries can damage the tissue of the tooth nerve, as a result of which the need for root canal treatment appears.
Patients are often interested in the duration of the tooth restoration procedure. The treatment takes about an hour, but in some cases longer. Everything depends on the size and depth of the tooth defect, how many teeth will be treated during one visit, what materials will be used and other circumstances.
It is not uncommon for patients to delay treatment because they are afraid of a potentially painful procedure, but the doctor anticipates this and always offers the patient local anesthesia. In this case, after the procedure, it is recommended that the patient avoid chewing until the effects of the painkillers wear off, as there is a high probability of digging into the soft tissues.
